Dairy Products reduce risk of heart attacks, strokes and hypertension

“Drink your milk!” was our mother’s favourite instruction when we were young. Milk and dairy are believed and proven to be very important for a child’s mental and physical growth. It contains potassium, calcium, and vitamin D, which ensures better immunity, strength, and growth of the body.

According to a report published in The Lancet recently, it was revealed that adults who consumed two servings of dairy every day had fewer chances of experiencing a heart attack, stroke, or any heart disease. The study included 136000 people from around 21 countries.

Vitamin D prevents high blood pressure
Various studies point out that the deficiency of Vitamin D which has become an epidemic is one of the reasons for hypertension, diabetes, and other causes of heart attacks and strokes. Vitamin D which is abundant in dairy products is helpful in keeping the deficiency away and thus avoiding conditions like these that lead to cardiovascular problems.

Vitamin K avoids arterial calcification
Research shows that vitamin K2 helps to keep the calcium in the bones and out of the arteries. People who included vitamin K2 in their diet faced a 50% lower chance of arterial calcification. Found in dairy products like yoghurt, vitamin K2 is a great nutrient for the heart and keeps heart diseases at bay.

Good fats keep heart disease away
Good fats like monosaturated and unsaturated fats found in dairy products like cheese help in keeping heart attacks and strokes away. Obviously, an overdose of the same can be bad for your heart and your fitness, but a regulated amount of the fats can help in keeping your heart healthy.

Full-fat dairy does not cause heart diseases
According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the fact that full-fat dairy causes heart diseases is a myth. The study busted the age-long myth when it was discovered that any sort of dairy, including full-fat products, do not contribute to heart disease conditions.

Probiotics in fermented dairy are good for the heart
Fermented dairy like yoghurt, cheese, etc. contain probiotics or good bacteria that are good for your heart's health. A study conducted last year claimed that these products decrease the risk of heart diseases, strokes, and attacks.

Dairy consumption reduces heart attacks
It was recorded that dairy products consumption, including low fat and full-fat dairy, led to a reduction in heart attacks by 9%. In fact, substituting dairy for meats may fulfill the nutrient requirement of the body, but actually, increase the risk of an attack.
