Quality Assurance (QA) which is an integrated approach in food safety
management system (FSMS) mostly supplanted with quality control because of
lack of awareness of this concept in dairy industry. Dairy plants earlier have
quality control section which now they are renaming to quality assurance which
is a futile approach to implement FSMS. Heads of dairy plants can only
implement quality assurance only if he has control on system from farm till
distribution. Quality assurance relates to how a process is performed, whereas
quality control is more the inspection aspect of quality management. Hence, it is
the need of the hour that owners and heads of dairy plants must understand this
concept for delivering safe food to consumers and better return to the farmers.
